Texas Passes Law Warning Women of Possible Breast Cancer Risk Prior to Abortion

AUSTIN, May 22, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Texas Senate passed informed consent abortion legislation Wednesday which requires that women are afforded information on abortion 24-hours prior to going through with the procedure. Bill HB 15 specifies that women must be made aware of abortion's risks including: i) the risks of infection and hemorrhage; (ii) the potential danger to a subsequent pregnancy and of infertility; and (iii) the prospect of increased risk of breast cancer following an induced abortion and the natural protective effect of a completed pregnancy in avoiding breast cancer.

The bill which has already passed the House and is likely to be signed by Gov. Rick Perry, calls for a maximum $10,000 fine for abortionists who fail to provide informed consent to women prior to aborting their children.
